1.1 First time with Blender

After installing Blender on your computer, you will open the software and

see a quick setup screen that will ask a few questions. The most crucial

choice you have to make on this screen is how you want to handle

object selection. The screen only appears when opening Blender for the

first time.

In the past, Blender used the right mouse button to select objects, which

is the opposite of all other graphical applications. Starting back in

Blender 2.8, the new default behavior uses the left mouse button for

selection.

You can confirm in the Quick Setup the left button for selection and keep

all other options in their default settings. Unless you have a particular

need to change those settings, leave all options in their default values.

For the rest of the book, I will assume you choose the "Left" option

(Select With) from the Quick Setup (Figure 1.1).
